The Lessons from The Pink House emanate from Jack Manilla’s experience surviving life’s storms.

Manilla had achieved the professional success he had sought only to find that it was personal peace which he desired when he was financially shipwrecked.

Set adrift of all of his earthly moorings, Manilla was rescued, transformed and enlightened by the Lord, during an 18-month stay in “The Pink House,” a cracker bungalow in a Florida orange grove.

Only upon surrendering control of his life to God and developing new habits did he achieve the peace that he would draw upon to build a new business and to sustain him during personal crises such as his son’s harrowing fight with cancer.

The following Lessons from The Pink House can help you attain personal peace and professional success as well.

1. 1. Be humble.

Surrender your will. Let go, Let God.

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” — Philippians 2: 5-11

2. Give thanks and praise

Be grateful for all that you have been given and all that you can do.

“ Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” — Ephesians 5: 19-20

3. Dream It

Envision your success.

“‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” — Acts 2: 17

4. Believe It

Know that God will see you through life’s storms.

“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” — Matthew 21:22

5. Ask It

Seek wise counsel from trustworthy advisors.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” — Matthew 7: 7

6. Receive It

Use your material, spiritual and mental gifts wisely.

“So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.” — 2 Corinthians 5:9

7. Do It

Set sail and steer safely through life’s storms.

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” — James 1: 22-25
